Experience working with yoga and gain more knowledge!
As you perform the yoga positions, asanas, you will become stronger both mentally and physically. Through breathing and time “on the mat”, you will learn to know yourself better and how you experience other people. You will improve your flexibility, strength, stamina and balance. Furthermore, you will become more aware of your own presence.
By learning the yoga vocabulary in Sanskrit, English and in Norwegian, you will be able to perform yoga classes anywhere in the world. The teachers will also guide you in the making of your own yoga sequence. This will enable you to practise yoga safely on your own.
Through meditation, breathing techniques and relaxation, you will learn techniques to relax your body and to calm your breathing, thus reducing the general level of stress in your body.
History and philosophy
You will learn the history of and the philosophy behind yoga thereby obtaining a deeper understanding for yoga and why it is still popular and relevant today.
In the subject anatomy, you will learn about the muscles and the skeleton, and how the practice of yoga influences the body.
Study trips – London, Yoga retreat and Japan
In the autumn, you will participate in Europe’s biggest yoga festival in London, and in the spring term, you will visit a yoga retreat in Southern-Europe.
There is also a voluntary trip to Japan in the spring.
Yoga for you
You need no prior background in yoga. All you do need is an interest in the subject.
The principal teacher of yoga is Silje Dyrseth Eide. In addition to yoga, she has also trained as a dance teacher.
In addition, we benefit from the expertise of other teachers at the school as well as guest teachers.
