Leisure activities at the school
The main subjects here at Sunnhordland folk high school attract students with similar interests, people who inspire each other and create a lot together. The school has well equipped buildings with special rooms, studios and workshops for the subjects, which you might also use in your spare time. This bargains for a lot of activity and “buzz” in the school, and nearly always you will find someone doing something interesting.

We have a fine park area outside, with a grass football pitch, a small sculpture park, slack rope and tight rope, short way to the sea (200m) and canoes you may borrow.

The school’s own optional subjects will mostly take place in the afternoons and early evenings. In addition to this, the students themselves often take initiative to arrange different activities in the afternoon/evening, i.e. film club, dance, sports activities, café etc.

Leisure activities on Halsnøy
Here on the island of Halsnøy there is a swimming pool, a cinema, a tennis court, a sports organization for several sports, a choir, a brass band, a big band, a bakery shop, a café and several shops. The scenery is beautiful, with many fine alternatives for walks, and you can fish, swim or canoe amongst small islets and rocks.

Short way to town
If you take the boat from our port Ranavik (2 km from the school), you arrive right in the centre of our nearest town, Leirvik. Here you will find more shops, restaurants, pubs and discos, art galleries, different cultural arrangements, a college for higher education and a students’ milieu. The centre on the mainland is around 15 min. away by car. 
On free weekends it is also easy to travel to Bergen, Haugesund or Stavanger.
