Dance technique as well as creative work
Dance techniques as contemporary dance, classical ballet and jazz dance. You will work with combinations and dances within these various styles, and often this work will result in performances.

You will also work with improvisation and choreography, exploring different aspects of the composing of dance. The students of the dance group are important contributors as dancers and choreographers in performances at the school.

If you want to develop individual projects, we will provide guidance for your work.

Jazz or Contemporary: Freedom to choose
Possibility to choose jazz or contemporary for in depth study.

Mostly practical and some theory
In addition we will work with dance for video and some dance appreciation. In the latter, the aim is that you shall be able to orientate yourself toward directions of dance that exist today.

Dance for you
Our aim is that you, after a year at Sunnhordland folk high school, will have a good foundation both in dance techniques and in the exploration of your own movement material. We experience every year that some of our students do further education in dance. The technique classes are divided so you can work at your own level.

Room for dance
Sunnhordland folk high school has purpose built dance studios with all necessary equipment. Often we use our Black box theatre for performances.The school is beautifully situated by the sea.
