Video games design is for you who love video and computer games. You want to explore how  games function and to create your own games. Through this work you will develop your creativity and imagination.

Into the world of game design
You will work with the elements that come together to make interesting and exciting computer games. You will learn the necessary computing skills along with how to develop game concepts and strategies.

What you will do
You will begin by adapting existing games through to creating your own games. The core platform will be Game Maker Pro. The main focus is on creativity.  In addition to learning the necessary technical skills you will also engage in areas such as game concepts, map flow, picture boards, storytelling, animation, artificial intelligence and scripting.  Knowledge of these fields will contribute to your craft and to the makings of an interesting game designer.

Game design at Sunnhordland facilitates a fertile environment where young people with this special interest can interact with each other.  Elements associated with game design such as movement, music, music production, art and theatre / film can in addition be explored through the school’s option subjects, projects and in depth programmes.

If you want to explore the world of game design then this is for you. Previous background in game design is not necessary, as you will be taught from where you already are in your knowledge and experience. What you do need though is to be passionate about gaming.
