Visuell kunst møter våren i Berlin

Til Visuell kunst på Sunnhordland folkehøgskole

Linjeturer i inn og utland.
Før påske var alle linjene på Sunnhordland folkehøgskole på tur for å få faglig påfyll: Musikk var på konsertturné til danske høiskoler, mens Dans var i Oslo der de gjorde workshops og så forestillinger. Musikkproduksjon og spilldesign hadde også valgt Oslo som reisemål, mens Teater og film både viste og selv så forestillinger i Bergen.

Visuell kunst derimot bestemte seg for å møte våren i Berlin. Her fikk de oppleve kunst, både i gallerier og i byrommet. De jobbet også med egne arbeider da de var der.

Berlin - out of this world
This is the third year in a row the art line has traveled to Berlin.

It is an amazing city for art. You can almost find a small gallery on every street around Mitte the area in central Berlin in which we stayed. The Monday was given to sight-seeing and just getting to know this historic city. The following day we went to as many of the private galleries as we could find. This was not difficult! There are 4 on the street our hostel was on and other 4 in view from the hostel. On one street we found 15 small galleries.

The range of work on show is really amazing. Everyone found something inspiring to them. In the morning of our last day we went to the Bahnhof gallery. It’s a major gallery dealing in contemporary art from around the world. It also has a fine collection of some of Germany's best known artists. In the afternoon most of the group checked out one of the Artist collective that is to be found in Berlin.

We also made contact with a couple of artists who work in Berlin and they invited us back to their studios next time we are in the city. That will be really exciting for next year!
